I remember learning my letters in kindergarten. I do not recall learning to read, but I am pretty sure I could not have read this in first grade...
This is a page from Kayla's library book that she brought home tonight. At 33 I barely know some of those words! It won't be too long and she will pass me up completely.
You are right --- 1st graders in the 80's didn't read at this level. She read a similar book to me the last time we were there and I couldn't believe the reading skill.
What a smart girl! Yeah, these kids are pushed to read at a higher level than I remember doing. But, it doesn't seem to be much of a challenge for them. Unbelievable!
are the proud parents of two beautiful little girls. Kayla will be going into 5th grade, and Caroline will be a big first grader soon. They keep us very busy with school, dance, piano and life in general. It is so much fun!
