Spring Social

We went to the first annual Spring Social at the school on Friday night.  I have to admit that I did not want to go.  At all.  However, the girls were so excited to go.  It had been talked about so much at school during the week leading up to the big event.  We went ahead and bought some tickets before we left school on Friday.  That way we were able to jump right in without having to stand in any lines.

It was filled with regular school carnival type activities.  Lots of games to play and food to buy.  Each game only cost a quarter.  We bought $8 worth of tickets and could not use them all before the night ended.  They also sold raffle tickets for $1.  I believe we bought $12 worth of raffle tickets.  Each girl received one free raffle ticket for bringing back a program they were given at school.  There were baskets all over the gym filled with items donated by the classes.  If you were interested in that basket, you put your raffle ticket in that bucket.  There was also an i-pod, an electric scooter, 2 bikes, season passes to Big Splash, and the opportunity to throw a pie in the face of three different teachers.  Caroline managed to win 2 of the raffle drawings.  We were shocked!  Kayla did not win anything.  Then they announced that the boy who won the chance to throw a pie in the face of the art teacher was not there, and they were going to draw another name.  Kayla got so excited that she still had a chance to win something.  She had put one of her tickets in that bucket.  They drew her name!  She was thrilled!  I had to stay with our baskets so I did not get to watch.  You could tell when she threw the pie.  The place erupted.  Imagine about 200 kids screaming at the top of their lungs in a gym.  It was so fun for both of the girls!

Here they are with the baskets that Caroline won

This basket had all sorts of popcorn and candy.  Plus, a $25 gift card to Incredible Pizza, four movie passes, a couple of movies, a Wii game, 2 puzzles, 2 card games, and a couple of board games.  This is the basket Kayla really wanted to win.

This basket had lots of art supplies and a weaving loom.  This is the basket that Caroline really wanted.  Oh, and lots of glitter in this basket.  Yay!

As far as our family is concerned, the first annual Spring Social was a huge success!  We finished off the night with a trip to Cherry Berry.  A perfect day!

Easter

Our Easter celebration began with the annual dying of the eggs.  The kids love doing this every year.  We tried to dye them in kool-aid this year.  It worked pretty well, but we may go back to the good old fashion way next year.  Caroline was so excited.  She was asking for days to dye the eggs.

Sunday morning started with the hunt.  We always hunt for eggs inside the house.  This was our first hunt in the new house.  There were a lot more places for the eggs to be hidden in this house.  It was a lot more fun.

 And they're off...

Of all of the hiding places, this was my favorite

Next, we headed outside to attempt a few pictures.  These did not come out so well this year.  We were really in too much of a hurry.

Then it was off to church.  We went to a new church Easter morning.  We really enjoyed it.  We then went to my mom's house so she could see the girls.  Then it was time to head to my dad's.  We eat lunch there and do a huge egg hunt with the cousins.

These kids have such a great time together.  I really was a wonderful day.
