Dentist

Caroline had her regular dental appointment today.  The results were not so good.  She has to go back on the 26th for two, possibly 3, cavities.  I feel awful.  She does brush her teeth at least twice every day.  However, I am really bad about saying "Caroline, go brush your teeth."  She is four.  I should be brushing her teeth for her.

To top it off, I was the mom who started crying at the dentist office.  As the dentist was telling me about all of the cavities my eyes just started watering.  And they would not stop.  It was awful!  I just hate that Caroline has to start getting fillings at 4 years old.  It is too early for her to not enjoy her trips to the dentist.  An adult will now be brushing her teeth every morning and night.

Don't beat yourself up. Lesson learned and move forward. Some folks are more prone to cavities and she must be one of them.

Caleb has at least 3 cavaties filled- I know we've been there twice- can't remember how many cavaties. And we have him brush morning/night with a timer. It certainly made me feel like a bad parent. However, it's true that some are prone to cavaties and others are not. You should ask about having her teeth sealed. That's what a lot of my friends do since they know they're losing the cavaty battle. Don't feel bad. It's just how her mouth was made. And if the dentist made you feel bad, then I'd go find a new dentist.

bummer. i think some teeth are prone to it. That's what my dentist told me when I got my first fillings. that it couldn't have been prevented unless I had had them sealed.
